About Birdseye

BIRDSEYE REAL ESTATE

Deep Roots in Vermont.

Sam’s grandfather and great-grandfather cultivating corn at Lake View Farm, Glover, Vermont, c. 1918

Birdseye Real Estate was founded by Sam Young, a fifth-generation Vermonter, whose family came over from Scotland in the 1870s and for several generations farmed these rocky soils and endured the harsh winters without our modern conveniences. In Sam’s lifetime, he has served his community in many ways, and the Birdseye team brings together over twenty years of experience in real estate development, sales, hospitality and customer service.

You're in good company

“My family farmed the hills of Glover starting in the 1870s. I love Vermont and can’t imagine calling any other place home. I feel connected to the country roads lined with maple trees, the fields of hay and corn, and to the mountains in the distance.” – Sam Young

Sam Young,
Broker-Owner

Sam is a 5th generation Vermonter from the Northeast Kingdom. He served his community as a State Representative in the Vermont Legislature for the towns of Albany, Barton, Craftsbury, Greensboro, Glover, Sheffield and Wheelock from 2011-2021, serving on both the House Committee on Commerce and Economic Development and Vice-Chair of Ways and Means. Sam has also supported local businesses as a web developer for over ten years at his company, Think or Sink. Sam and his partner, Heidi Lauren Duke, reside in Greensboro, Vermont, on Lake Caspian, and have developed five other properties in the area. Sam loves Northern Vermont and wants to help you find the place for your home or business. Feel free to put his deep knowledge of NEK communities to work for you.

Putting people and community first

“The history, beauty, and close-knit community of Vermont swept me off my feet when I arrived here a decade ago. In all my projects, I bring my attention to detail and artistic vision along with me, but it’s the people that make every endeavor exciting.” – Heidi Lauren Duke

Heidi Lauren Duke,
Sales and Rental Agent

Born in the mountains of Colorado, Heidi Lauren grew up in the midwest and has lived in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom since 2016, after living in New York City for nearly a decade, where she directed opera and theatre. Her passion for expansive, community-driven projects brought her to Vermont where she became the owner and CEO of Highland Lodge in Greensboro, VT. On this 136-acre estate, she revitalized old traditions of the beloved inn’s nine-decade history, and began new ones, including Margarita Monday, a welcome addition to the summer calendar. Since moving on from the lodge in 2020, she has developed several other properties in Greensboro and Albany, Vermont, and continues to produce and perform in large events and wedding bands, as well as write for TV and film.

“I cannot recommend Sam enough. I live in Chicago and had to sell my brother’s home in Barton. It was a sensitive and challenging situation. Because I live so far away, and wasn’t able to easily travel back and forth to do all of the things required to sell a home, Sam stepped up and went above and beyond for me and my family.”

Sam was incredible! I purchased a property from Singapore prior to moving to the area – I completely relied upon Sam to be my eyes and ears. We were challenged by a 12 hour time difference but he always made time for calls and was quick to reply. His assessment of properties, neighborhoods and listings was honest and straightforward. He immediately gained my trust and I was not disappointed when I finally was able to see the property with my own eyes. Sam is an honest, committed professional!”
